Happy #Ghost v6 release date: aka my favorite publishing / newsletter platform (which powers this site news.elenarossini.com) is now allowing self-hosted accounts to join the Fediverse. I have been waiting for this day for months!

Now, sadly I cannot upgrade to Ghost v6 at the moment.
Why?
I’m with my extended family in a remote location in western France with no WiFi in the house and very spotty internet connection via my phone. 90% of the time my laptop refuses to connect to my phone’s hotspot… and does so only after I run “Wireless Diagnostics” (apparently it’s a common issue with some Silicon Macs).
My iPad has no problem connecting to my phone’s hotspot but… there is NO WAY I can or will upgrade my darling Ghost blog running commands on an iPad.
I’m currently attempting to publish this blog post (for the first time) via my iPad because my laptop is refusing to go online. Let’s just say the experience is frustrating, as I feel very limited with my options.
If I was really motivated I could attempt to update Ghost, but my connection here is so poor, the whole endeavor feels risky (even if I create a snapshot that I could restore).
I am saying this now but I’m in this location for another 10 days… and I’ve got 12 days before I’m back in Italy at my parents’ house with a stable and fast WiFi connection. The real question is: will I be able to wait 12 days before hitting “ghost update”… or will I cave in?
The bets are on!
